Phenergan can be safely taken during pregnancy, even in early pregnancy.

Nausea and/or vomiting is one of the classic pregnancy symptoms. It’s so variable from patient to patient and from pregnancy to pregnancy. Fortunately, there are safe anti-nausea medications that your obstetrical provider can prescribe for you, including promethazine (Phenergan).

The main side effect is fatigue, but most pregnant people prefer being tired over throwing up. For those of you so nauseous that you can’t keep down a pill to help, Phenergen comes in a rectal suppository form as well.
