Queso, a favorite dip for many, can continue to be enjoyed throughout pregnancy, whether it’s on your nachos, burritos, or simply paired with chips.
Because queso is a cheese dip that’s fully cooked, the risk of lingering bad bacteria is quite low. Additionally, the type of cheese that is often used to make queso can easily be purchased in pasteurized1 form, pretty much eliminating any concern.
You may, however, have to be a bit more cautious with other types of queso. Queso fresco, for example, which translates to “fresh cheese,” may or may not be pasteurized. So be sure to check product packaging and purchase it from a store.
