Mamata Reddy, CFPM (Certified Food Protection Manager)

Contributing Writer

Mamata Reddy is a health sciences and food writer/editor, classically trained pastry chef, and culinary educator. With degrees in journalism, communications, and pastry arts, she employs her odd amalgam of creative skills any which way she can! As a former writer-editor for Elsevier Science and Pearson Education, she worked with a range of health science professionals and academics to publish textbooks in both undergraduate- and graduate-level sciences. She later attended culinary school and became a teacher of the art, helping children ages 2 to 18 learn the important life skill of cooking and baking for themselves. Her former cooking school, Spoonfoolery, in Evanston, IL, enrolled over 500 students during its nearly 5 years in business. Mamata recently moved with her family to Raleigh, NC, where she works as a freelance science and food writer, and now offers private cooking classes. You can read more of her work on Expectful.com and at Spoonfoolery.com, on her cooking blog. Mamata enjoys reading, cooking and baking (of course!), fiber art crafts, and hiking the beautiful trails of North Carolina. When she’s not researching and writing something about health or teaching people about food, she’s running after her two elementary-age kids and working with her young agility dog.
